Events
The IU Retirees Association meets monthly during the school year, September through May.
Regular meetings typically feature speakers who are top IU administrators, scholars, coaches, or outstanding community leaders. These meetings are usually at 2 p.m.
The December and May luncheon meetings offer special programs and fellowship.
Expect some or all future meetings to be in hybrid format, available for in-person and on-line meeting. PROCEDURE: If you wish to attend remotely then follow the registration link below for the particular program, any time prior to the end of the meeting, to obtain a personal Zoom link.

- Tuesday, September 12. Abra K. Bush, David Henry Jacobs Bicentennial Dean and professor of music in voice at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, spoke to a group of about 45 members, in person and online. Video Recording.
- Wednesday, October 11. IU Collections at McCalla. Engagement Coordinator Alisha Beard spoke about the Indiana University Collections Teaching, Research, and Exhibition Center at the McCalla School, 9th and Indiana, followed by an informal tour. Video Recording of her presentation.
- Wednesday, November 8. James Capshew, IU Historian and Professor of History and Philosohy of Science, spoke, drawing on his biography of Herman B Wells: The Promise of the American. Video Recording of his presentation.

- Wednesday, May 8, 2024 – Spring Luncheon at Meadowood Retirement Community. Doors open at 11:00 am, buffet begins at 11:30. IURA member Wendy Elliot will play the piano. - Wednesday, September 14 The first meeting of the 2021-2022 academic year featured a presentation by Fred Glass, past Director of Athletics at IU. He spoke about his new book, Making Your Own Luck: From a Skid Row Bar to Rebuilding Indiana University Athletics. Video Recording.

- Wednesday, November 9 Marjorie Hershey, Professor Emerita of Political Science in the IU College of Arts and Sciences, gave her early interpretation of the results of the election. Video Recording.
- Tuesday, December 6 We had a festive Holiday Luncheon at the Bloomington Country Club, featuring a quartet of Jacobs School of Music students from the Singing Hoosiers. There is no video. But do check out this Album of photos taken by IURA board member Beau Vallance.
- Tuesday, January 10 Brad Cook, curator of photographs for the IU Archives, shared his favorite images as he told the story of the early days of IU up through the presidency of William Lowe Bryan. Video Recording. Take a closer look at the historical photos Brad shared here.
- Tuesday, February 14 at 2 p.m. William Yarber, Provost Professor in the School of Public Health, Senior Scientist at the Kinsey Insitute, and Senior Director the Rural Center for AIDS/STD Prevention, spoke on the history of the Kinsey Institute. Video Recording.

- Wednesday, May 10 We held our end-of-year luncheon buffet in the Terrace room at the Meadowood Retirement Community. Harpist Erzsébet Gaal provided musical entertainment, including three Hoagy Carmichael songs adapted for the harp. Board secretary Beau Vallance took photos that are available for viewing in this album.
